October Article: This month's article is: The Value of One. If you were asked to determine the value of ONE of your clients, how would you proceed to do so? The truth of the matter is that the value of one client directly correlates to the value you place on the relationship between your clients and your business. If you have any questions surrounding this month's article, or would like to further explore opportunities, please feel free to reach out to schedule a session with us! You can reply directly here if we have worked together in the past. If you are a new client, please click here to fill out a consultation form, and we will be in touch to schedule a session with you.

October Challenge: I challenge you to focus on your finances; personal and professional.

→Review your finances for cost-reduction and cost-avoidance opportunities. How often are you engaging in luxury services? How often do you eat out? What memberships do you pay for that aren’t providing an equivalent ROI? When was the last time you checked in with your subscription services to see about getting a better rate? When was the last time you executed a comparative quote between your current services and alternative options?

→Set your accounts up for success. Do you have auto-pay set up where available? Do you have calendar events with reminders set up for bills not on auto-pay? Do you interact with your bank daily to ensure adequate balances for pending charges? When was the last time you shopped around for better rates or features on your credit cards? When was the last time you shopped around for banks? Does your current bank charge you transaction fees, or insufficient funds fees?

→Start planning today for tomorrow. Do you have a savings account set up and in use? Do you regularly check on your credit score for improvement opportunities? What percent of your income are you allocating to savings? Do you have some form of retirement fund actively in use? Do you have a budget in place and in use? Do you regularly forecast future revenue/income projections? What is your proven process for roadmapping out a new project in relation to your finances? How are you diversifying your monetary assets? What investments have you made?

Stretch of the month: Legs Up the Wall Pose - this pose is calming and relaxing. It improves circulation (both lymphatic and venous), reduces swelling in your ankles and feet, and helps you manage stress. Click the (external) link to learn more, or simply google "Legs Up the Wall Pose"!

Wellness tip of the month: No one will advocate for you better than you. Did you know 80% of the world’s population does not feel comfortable actively promoting themselves? A lot of this comes from imposter syndrome and/or a general lack of confidence in self. The ironic part is that the more you believe in yourself and the work you do, the more genuine you’ll be as a self-promoter, and the more genuinely people will perceive you. Making connections is a great way to self-promote. Always ask for referrals and offer to be a referral source yourself. Act upon every opportunity you get, and always seek new ones. In the professional world, WHO you know is often more important than WHAT you know. Having another person account for your success adds a big foundation for promoting the great work you do. And, the more validation we receive from others, the easier it becomes to validate ourselves, thereby growing our confidence and making self-promotion that much easier.

Meet Our Rising Star

Maria Johnson, Junior Advisor, Marketing Specialist

Maria’s interest in marketing and advertising sparked when she took her first advertising course at the University of Texas, where it dawned on her just how powerful of a tool communication is to modern society. With just a few words, imagery, and a platform, one can influence how the world around us is perceived by the masses. As Maria pursued her studies she became determined to use the communication and creativity she was cultivating to uplift those whose values are anchored in progression, compassion, and community like hers. Maria wants to spread positive messages that are truly about elevating the lives of everyone; connecting and uplifting people is what keeps Maria going.

After obtaining her BS in Advertising from the Stan Richards School of Advertising and Public Relations, Maria had decided that she wanted to take the road less travelled. Rather than taking the route of a 9 to 5 at an advertising agency, Maria wanted to use the skills she obtained from studying to make an impact with the small businesses that are often overlooked by large agencies. As if fated by the universe, Crum Consulting crossed Maria’s path at exactly the right time, showing her that her goals were not only obtainable but well within reach.

Maria prides herself in her ability to use social media, design, and advertising strategies to connect with communities she is close to herself such as Gen-Z, young adults, and the LGBTQIA+ community. Maria always starts with the end result in mind, then she develops a plan to achieve the ideal end result. She takes a collaborative approach to her projects, which requires meetings with her clients to ensure they get their desired results. Maria’s dedicated to elevate the voices of those who are passionate about what they do and are ready to be heard.
