September Article: This month's article is: The Value of Old School. To some people, honoring a strong human component in business is considered “old school”. Why have a human customer service agent, when you can have a bot? Why send personalized messages, when you could just mass-market? Why call to wish someone a happy birthday, when you could just write “HBD” on their Facebook wall? In this article, we explore how the world of business has changed in the wake of the digital age, the loss of the human component of business and its effects on our professional relationships, and methods to keep your business old school where it counts. If you have any questions surrounding this month's article, or would like to further explore opportunities, please feel free to reach out to schedule a session with us! You can reply directly here if we have worked together in the past. If you are a new client, please click here to fill out a consultation form, and we will be in touch to schedule a session with you.

September Challenge: I challenge you to shower yourself - mind, body and soul - with self-care

Choose a minimum of 3 activities per category (feel free to come up with your own).

→Mind: practice mindfulness, be present, take brain breaks, nurture your gray matter, make time to write out your thoughts throughout the day, quiet time, breathwork, meditate, engage in positive self-talk, use white/brown noise to reset your nervous system, implement a skin-care routine, partner with a therapist/life coach
→Body: take a nap, stretch/yoga daily, get a massage, meal prep for clean eats during the week, exercise, drink water, get a pedicure/manicure, get a facial, get your sleep cycle in sync with your circadian rhythm, get acupuncture/hot stones, try a new workout class, strengthen your core
→Soul: laugh, make others laugh, immerse yourself in nature, engage in self-reflection, write your thoughts, connect with loved ones, turn on and up your favorite music, dance like no one is around, make a gratitude board and fill it up with what you’re grateful for, go for a drive with the windows down, hand write a letter to someone

Stretch of the month: Thread the needle - this restorative posture stretches the muscles of the rotator cuff, traps, and rhomboids – the shoulder muscles, neck muscles that can cause discomfort in your shoulders if there is excessive tightness. Click the (external) link to learn more, or simply google "thread the needle pose"!

Wellness tip of the month: Make time to meal prep for your busy weekdays (or weekends) to avoid impulse eating "easy", yet undoubtedly unhealthy, food. Depending on your personal style, you may choose to freestyle your menu by shopping the bargains or seeing what jumps out at you in the moment, or you may choose to write out a menu and an associating grocery list. However you choose to develop your menu, it is important to provide yourself with enough variety to get through whatever time frame you are cooking for; 1 - 2 weeks worth of food. You should only prep the ingredients that need to be cooked/roasted/baked, and leave your ready-to-eat ingredients (such as lettuce, or fresh produce) whole until the day you are ready to eat them. This will ensure the time-consuming ingredients are out of the way, and the ready-to-eat ingredients stay fresh. After a long day at the office, you will happily high-five your past self for setting you up for success, when you come home hangry and find a plethora of meals ready for you to assemble in minutes.

"There are no unrealistic goals, only unrealistic time frames." -Mark Leblanc
