September Article: This month's article is:  An Optimist & A Realist Walk Into A Bar. Stop me if you've heard this one before: an optimist and a realist walk into a bar. This may sound like the beginning of a joke, but it's actually a scenario that business owners often find themselves in. If you have any questions surrounding this month's article, or would like to further explore opportunities, please feel free to reach out to schedule a session with us! You can reply directly here if we have worked together in the past. If you are a new client, please click here to fill out a consultation form, and we will be in touch to schedule a session with you.

September Challenge: I challenge you to shower yourself - mind, body and soul - with self-care!

Choose a minimum of 3 activities per category (feel free to come up with your own).

→Mind: practice mindfulness, be present, take brain breaks, nurture your gray matter, make time to write out your thoughts throughout the day, quiet time, breathwork, meditate, engage in positive self-talk, use white/brown noise to reset your nervous system, implement a skin-care routine, partner with a therapist/life coach, do absolutely nothing on one day off

→Body: take a nap, stretch/yoga daily to improve circulation and avoid injuries, get a massage, meal prep for clean eats during the week, add more fruits and veggies to your menu, exercise, increase your water intake, get a pedicure/manicure, get a facial, get your sleep cycle in sync with your circadian rhythm and wake up at the same time each day, get acupuncture/hot stones, try a new workout class, strengthen your core

→Soul: laugh, make others laugh, immerse yourself in nature, engage in self-reflection, write your thoughts, connect with loved ones, turn on and up your favorite music, dance like no one is around, make a gratitude board and fill it up with what you’re grateful for, go for a drive with the windows down, hand write a letter to someone, treat yourself, drive to a body of water and spend time reflecting on your life, tend your garden

Stretch of the month:  Extended Puppy Pose - this pose offers a number of variations that enable us to get the most from this back- and shoulder-stretching pose. You can approach this pose by degrees—deepening into it as your upper body opens. Click the (external) link to learn more, or simply google "Extended Puppy Pose"!

Wellness tip of the month: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. We've all heard it. Some of us, myself included at times, have ignored it. As someone who has walked both sides of the fence, I have conceded to the major impacts that breakfast has on the entire rest of my day. It is an easy cycle to fall into: don't eat breakfast, only have time for a small lunch, and then overeat through the rest of the evening and night, causing you to wake up not hungry....and, repeat. Not only that, but when you do make the time to eat, you're likely going to make poor nutritional choices due to a lack of time, or a lack of self-regulation in the face of extreme hunger. This doesn't mean that you always have to have breakfast foods for breakfast either! A complete breakfast should contain a balance of all the major food groups; protein, dairy, healthy fat, and carbohydrates (or whatever combination of these falls within your specific dietary restrictions). These elements are vital to maintaining stamina and fending off hunger throughout the day. Balance is key in determining your breakfast preferences and routine. You've got this!
