The Vibe

Cole notes that she doesn’t feel like she has worked a single day since founding Crum Consulting, as she truly loves what she does. That said, when Cole isn’t on the clock, you can likely find her learning a new skill, enjoying the outdoors, or reveling in creativity. As a life long learner, Cole loves learning new skills, hearing new perspectives, having meaningful conversations, and just soaking up as much knowledge as she can. Cole is an avid nature lover, and loves to stay moving. You can likely find her exploring a new trail or national park, hiking, kickboxing, lifting weights, running, boxing, skating…really, anything that gets the body moving and the mind resting. Cole also loves the creative process; coding, writing poetry, graphic design, painting, writing novels, playing guitar, writing lyrics and music, sketching, or writing content. Cole can sum up her life outside of work, along with life at work, with one quote:

"If you're not learning, you're not living." -Kevin James

The Journey

Cole reflects on trying to start her first business, The Rolling Crum, and feeling completely out of her depth. While she appreciates, revels in, and even strives for a challenge, the process stretched beyond the measure of continuous learning and bordered on laboring most of the time. There was such an intense learning curve, even for someone like Cole with 20+ years of business management experience. It was also quite a humbling experience in that she had no idea how much she didn't know about running a business, but more importantly, how much she really did know about running a business.

Once Cole had the first business running smoothly, she launched her second business, an LGBTQIA+ apparel and event company. This is probably where it all came together for her. Cole was able to learn so many new skills, at such a rapid rate, that she finally felt the need to have a platform in which to utilize all of these new skills and experienced skills under one brand…and the light bulb turned on to illuminate the business consulting sector.

Cole’s third business, a consulting firm, was a partnership structure. She notes that it was good practice, despite the sector. Under this brand, they focused on the corporate world, and Cole found herself lacking the passion that once sparked the origin of the business. The corporate sector revealed the darkest corners of business, and really started taking a toll on her soul. Cole finally decided that regardless of where she went from there, she wanted to go under her own brand and standards, and she wanted to get back to her passion in the start-up and SMB market. Days later, Crum Consulting was born, and was official shortly after that.

Crum Consulting has grown, evolved, and expanded in so many ways since then, Cole’s origin story has retroactively evolved with it. From today’s view, what got her into this business is being able to help those that need it the most: women, neurodivergents, LGBTQIA+, and other minorities. Being able to support a national book of business, containing hand-selected individuals that define our “Right People”, is what got her into this business. The one constant for Cole, from day one to present, has been the ability to help people.
